Scale of Thoughts

So I passed my French test................Yaaaay!

And no, I did not cheat. I got a well deserved 63/70. I just didn’t take my test until the last batch and by then after listening to different people revise out loud (which reminded me of those annoying girls in secondary school who had the habit of asking questions and reciting the answers in front of class or by the corridor in secondary school-Always making me feel like I was a dunce (Sadly, those questions always came out))

I still haven’t brought out a replacement handbag, I told my beloved sister about the incident, and she screamed, she screamed not because she was worried about me, but because she couldn’t imagine anyone taking away her “investment” of her handbag, No kidding I would scream too if my bag cost more than a plane ticket out of here. After which she turned White (A term I like to use when she forgets she grew up in this country and begins to complain like a Canadian, asking silly questions like how would she survive if she moved home.....*hiss )

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I stepped on a scale on Friday.......my jaw literally dropped.

My new weight had me doing a lot of soul searching. It’s funny the things in life that begin a chain of thoughts. I was a onetime weight loss guru- 6 years ago to be exact. And now I can’t get myself to lose 1 dress size. I’ve come to realize that the reason we lose track in life, fall out of line, or give up is because we lose our sense of DISCIPLINE.

(DISCIPLINE: the training to improve strength or self control.)

Discipline clearly indicates boundaries. Normally as humans we have boundaries for every aspect of our lives- the things we know we should do, the things we shouldn’t do, but we are usually carefree about them. And that’s where the problem is. I am obviously guilty of this crime.

Tigeress's last post left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Even though it’s no new news that men........and women cheat. I can never understand why people would go through such lengths. Forget what they say “Guys cheat because they can” I say they cheat because the lack self discipline.

Speaking of which, I need to work on my self-discipline...........A married man in my office has been sending me text messages – (semi harmless) every morning and night ,in fact the morning texts wake me up sometimes. The fact that I know my boundaries doesn’t mean I should assume the next person knows his. A series of text messages everyday for over a month is just too much- And so, I showed him where the line is. Let’s hope he stays on his side.

So from now on its Self Discipline ‘r’ Us.

Starting with my eating habits......:-( goodbye biscuits, goodbye processed foods, eating late, and eating more :-( ......I’ll really miss you. My relationship with people (No more Miss Nice- I am putting everybody where they belong), and then my relationship. I happen to be too spoilt, stubborn and ALWAYS right *sheepish face.

When faced with having the right choice as the only choice, you realize that the right choice is indeed very hard to make.

PS: Why is it that at one point you feel so sure and so strongly about something , then the doubts begin to creep in, and then you ask yourself “Is this what I want?”

Trains, Thoughts, Trials & Thanks

I have one more day left and my holiday is over. On the train today, whilst on my way to visit an old family friend that I haven't seen in a while. I realized that there's just something about sitting in trains......the mind can't help but wander, and so I find my thoughts drifting away.

My first name means "God's Jewel"- I like to tell people it means "God's Precious Jewel" because that's how I see myself. From my gibberish post you could tell I had a lot on my mind.
I gained 4kg from sitting at home for 3 weeks waiting to collect my darn NYSC certificate! My dad was going through one of the toughest times ever and I watched my mum breakdown slowly as I became her mum, My so-called-job was acting up, my well deserved trip was looking bleek........hence the saying, it never rains, it pours, and in all of my 99 problems a "man" wasn't one this time.....LOL, in fact he was the only light left in my world.

And so I went to blogspot as i usually do, but this time for uplifting.

ShaCrown had just put up a post saying in everything give thanks- right, I thought- How apt?
I took it as a sign and acted on it, as I was doing that, I remembered a sermon by Bishop Noel Jones (He's awesome by the way) and in it he said to us- God says that we should ask for ALL things, not just 1,2 or 3 but all- Naturally, I have a hard time asking for things, so I carry this attitude to God, but not this time, And so I told God today I'm going to be greedy and ask you for everything and wait for them to happen.

It's so obvious when God does His things, He uses you to show off ,and the end product shows it all. He definitely doesn't share His glory.
Not only did I get a promotion, my salary is quite a take home for a fresher in these credit crunching times, My mum called me as I was loosing my mind in clothes and my feet in shoes (On my well deserved holiday btw- *sigh, there's nothing like shop therapy, it's a Must Do)and it was my dad at the other end of the phone!!! He was ok and everything was sorted out.

So here I am at the end of my holiday (2 or more kg lighter, after 2 weeks of sauntering in and out of the shops and not eating rice everyday!!) Overwhelmed by what God did for me. Words can not describe my gratitude, I am so thankful to Him and I promised to share this with you all....as He has shown me that, indeed I am "His Precious Jewel"......... so are you.

And my dear friend sends me a text saying she has just burnt my food!!!!.................Afro!!!! Why now??

I really can't wait to be Home, but I am going to miss the Caramel .......

What Do You Want?

Lazy Sunday afternoon trying to rest, my mind begins to wander- I began to reconcile my life then and my life now, the things that had happened to me over the last couple of years, the Places I had found myself in, the things I had to go through in the past and the things I was going through now, and as the incidents kept playing in my head I remembered the things I had loooonged & yearned for back then and the things I was longing for right now and then - IT CLICKED!

Everything I had ever desired or wanted and had made a detailed mental /physical note on, I eventually got matching my list tooth and nail!

And what fascinated me the most was the fact that I probably forgot about the “list” or “specification” of the desire/want at the time I got it.

It’s pretty amazing the things we can control with our thoughts.

I guess that's why it’s always good to know what exactly you want, so you don’t end up settling for less.

PS: I once read about a woman, who after  12years of marriage found a book, and inside it was a list, she read the list and began weeping- It was a detailed list of what she wanted in a husband if she eventually got married and her detailed list  described her husband of 12 years down to his height and colour of eyes, a list she had written when she was single.

Have a nice week......and I'm still up for adoption!
